What is Competitive Fencing?
Competitive fencing is simply fencing as a sport. Depending on which style and arena in which one is fencing, there are different levels of historical influence. The most common variant of competitive fencing is Olympic fencing. This type of fencing is used in most competitions and follows a designated set of rules that are set by the FIE. Wheelchair fencing also follows a designated set of competition rules, but the rules are modified so that competitors can fence with the same weapons while in wheelchairs. There are other variations also used but are not as common as Olympic and wheelchair fencing.
