Exercises for Shoulder Training

Shoulder exercises usually target the deltoid muscles on the shoulder blades, the triceps of the upper arms, the trapezius muscles on the back, and also the pectoral muscles on the chest. These are the critical muscles to develop in sports activities that require fluid but forceful arm movements as in swimming and canoeing, well-controlled arm swings as in baseball, tennis, golf and bowling, and strong punch and resistance to force as in boxing, wrestling and most martial arts. A good training program would include several sets of shoulder strength training exercises like military, seated, and neck presses, as well as side lateral raises. These exercises are usually done using barbells and dumbbells, and may be done in standing, seated or bent positions.
