Government encourages buying of Vietnamese products, not Chinese lanterns
Chinese Lanterns are becoming more and more popular in Vietnam ahead of Golden Week. They are much stronger and easier to import than Vietnamese lanterns. Small businesses are suffering because of the low demand. If people want us to send them our lanterns from the UK, this is possible. It is best though for people to buy locally made products to help out their own country. A number of supermarkets have stopped selling local lanterns because of their awful quality, even though the local government has a campaign to encourage people to buy local things. In Europe we can buy many products made abroad because they are inexpensive to purchase.
