Should you use a crib bumper?
One of the questions that new moms often have relates to crib bumpers. Some experts now say that babies should not have a crib bumper, because babies can get close to the edges of the crib and suffocate. When moms go shopping for baby bedding, though, the first thing they notice is that the whole set is based on the pattern on the crib bumper, so if you remove it, you’ve lost the theme for the room. Crib sets also come with blankets, but experts don’t recommend those either because the increased SIDs risk.
If you decide to use a crib bumper, minimize the risk by choosing one that is thin and light, and remove it once the baby is old enough to roll over.
