Acai Berry Harvested From Trees

It is amazing to learn about the journey that some of our favorite foods take before they land on our plates at home. In the case of the acai berry, the journey is exceptionally remarkable. This tiny berry is harvested in the Amazon Rain Forest. It comes from the acai palm tree. These trees produce thousands of berries each season. These towering trees are climbed twice a year by people native to the Brazil area. Because the berries will spoil very quickly, they are turned into a puree upon harvesting. Because of the increase in popularity of this fruit, there are some small farming operations that now ship this puree all over the world.
